It was my first as well! The hills were unexpected but manageable but that humidity was something else. Luckily my friends and I had enough cardio fitness to really not be winded through most of the race, and we kept it rather slow since it was our first. My buddy also stepped on an applesauce packet and a brown gel packet, both of which exploded all over me and was fun trying to wash off at water stations while jogging 🙄
