A few years ago, I tried to get my oldest (around nine at the time, now 12) to run with me. She humored me a few times but said, “No offense, mom, but running just isn’t my thing.” She joined a swim team two years ago, which I love (I grew up swimming), but she gradually started dabbling in running, too, and this year she joined the school cross country team. This morning, we ran a turkey trot together, and for the first time, she beat me! I’m super proud of her.

Yeah, that’s why I don’t stop it. I would immediately forget about it.
