Do you have one before, after a workout? Or do you have one when you’ve not worked out that day? I need to up my protein and struggling to do it with food. I’ll have a shake after a workout but considering having one on rest days too- pointless or not? I know it’s recommended to have it after workouts

it’s no different from any other protein, it’s just a convenient form. You can have it on any day
It really doesn’t matter when you have it (before or after). I do it on days I work out and the ones I don’t. You probably need more protein during the days you don’t work out as your body is resting and rebuilding so I’d take them on working days and resting days
