Agreed! I always look for smaller races. I don’t like dealing with crowds or the logistics of crowded events.
My one exception is the Manchester Road Race on Thanksgiving, which is bonkers crowded, but I like the whole “this a big deal in my town” experience.
I want to murder people who immediately start walking in the first quarter mile, but once I pass them it’s fun. 😂
I enjoy them but I hate the start when you’re all close together and I’m trying not to trip up the person in front. Or I’m trying to get around someone and they just seem to move in my way
its weird. I don’t enjoy crowds at ALL these days. Like, I went to a college football game for the first time in years and was thinking “this is horrible, how did I ever think this was fun?” but being in a crowd of runners is different. These are my people. Running my first race was a marathon starting in the pre dawn. I’ll never forget being part of the “thundering herd” of footsteps. I felt like a tribe heading off across the savanah, chasing a herd :)
Mass participation events are not fun, being in a noisy crowd is the opposite of enjoyable running.
Agree with this

Upvoted because I disagree 😂 but it totally makes sense though why people wouldn’t like it
