IMHO, it is all about your expectations/goals.
If by “ready” you mean “finish a marathon” then I’d say yes you’re ready. If by “ready” you mean “finish a marathon in under 4 hours” then perhaps?
What are your expectations/goals?

Complaint: I hate not being able to run. Last year I tweaked my left knee and now when I run I get a shooting pain in my knee. Walking and cycling are fine, but running is painful. XRays showed thinning cartilage and arthritis from overuse.
Confession: I’m not doing anything about it. I should be working on leg strength (quads, calves, hamstrings) to help support the knee, in the hopes that I can get back to running.
Uncomplaint: Cycling is pretty fun, and I can re-purpose most of my running gear (tops, hats)
