  • No Swedish fish lol, but I did have some random Skittles and one last thing of gummy snacks lol.

First point I noticed: I have had a deviated septum for I don’t even know how long, never really cared about it. It became WAY more evident as I was attempting to mouth breath like a champ and eat candy simultaneously lol. Probably good that no one was recording this debacle lol.

Second point: I am sure it would be more evident during significantly longer runs. I didn’t have any sort of stomach issues, but also didn’t notice any real “energy” from eating some sugar. Are the first little pack of Skittles around 40 minutes, the gummy snacks at about 1:00 (purposely slowed down a bit around mile 4-5 so I would even have some time after the second snack). I dunno, I didn’t notice it “helped”, but I think it’s also fairly short/slow to really “need” any sort of food during the run. But happy to find I didn’t have any major stomach/gut issues after eating something. Maybe I will look at more “performance”/grown up options as opposed to random candy next time lol.

  • Not a clue lol. Honestly probably gonna grab some small, individual packaged thing of candy (just because we have some left over from Halloween). Probably not “the best” choice, but it’s easy enough shove in my pocket with minimal mess, and it has some simple sugar/not a ton of fat or protein. I will worry about getting something more purposeful after I find out I’m not just gonna puke everything 2 minutes after eating it lol.

  • A) I squat. A lot. I gotchu on “thick thigh save lives” lol. B) Tights stretch. Maybe have to size up if you got REALLY big thighs, but they usually have a lot of stretch in em. C) Which looks funnier: wearing tights (which I do all the time so I’m kinda bided anyways lol) or waddling because the aforementioned thick thighs chafe and hurt? Lol.

Seriously though…go grab a pair of decently cheap UA tights, they work just fine.

  • I have an 8-mile run scheduled for Saturday. This isn’t the longest run ever heard of, but it’s the longest for me in probably 10-15 years. The bigger part is really this is gonna be the first run much over an hour (have run a couple 7-7.5 mile runs, ended up being slightly over an hour, but not substantially) so I am actually gonna dip my toes in the water as far as water/food during the run. I could probably make it alright without, more wanting to see how my stomach agrees with some food. This is the first time at any distance I have even though about nutrition during a run. We shall see how it goes.

  • Shoes…though can absolutely make things more enjoyable or even much less enjoyable…don’t actually make you a better runner. You make you a better runner, shoes are just pretty fashion accessories that we justify buying by pretending the “2%” increase means something below the ELITE levels.

Also me: just bought another pair of shoes. So maybe don’t listen to me 🤷‍♂️
