Cake day: October 30th, 2023

  • Ran to and from PT again today. I’m up to 4 runs a week - 3 of which are “actual” runs and 1 is a 10 min warm up on my treadmill before I do my at home pt. The posterior tibial tendinitis I think is fully healed. I get some minor pain in my lower foot - kind of inside of my heel - which are joints gapping a bit too much. It’s another symptom of just lacking any structure at all in the foot and will probably be chronic but the pain level is very much acceptable. If I go in for new orthotics I may see if they can put some support in there too.

    I ran a total of 9 miles last week. I can’t believe it. We’re starting to get into the territory where pre pt I’d feel pretty good nagging pain along my ankle next day. Today I accidentally ran 3.15 miles total (with 60 min pt in between) which is more than I’ve run since April. It feels good to be back.

    Best part: starting first week of December I’m going down to 1x a week pt!! I am really going to miss the foot/PTT massages she does at the end of every session and I’m also gonna miss having that dedicated time and space to work out. I’ll need to just start getting up before the fam does if I want to keep this momentum.


  • I didnt realize at first it was a progression album and just saw that teal carpet and was like “oh … wow they … is it green tile… ? Carpet…?” 😩 THEN realized you ripped up the carpet and refinished the floor! That detailing in the wood though - who tf saw that and was like “nah carpeting is the way to go.” ?! You did an amazing job! You should be so proud


  • We have holiday photos tomorrow, I think. It’s at a tree farm and it’s supposed to rain 😂. Maybe it’s just me being crushed under the mental load of it all but I don’t actually care. I organized the shoot, I scheduled the time, I picked out our outfits, I fixed my son’s sweater so he can wear it again … I’ve done all I can to make it happen. If Christmas photos this year are of us huddled under an umbrella oh well. All I can do is my best 🤷‍♀️

    Running wise I’ll probably run my usual 25 minutes. It’s so tempting to increase but i already added a second run to pt (I go 2x a week now and ran there and back both times) and I’m not eager to aggravate the PTT any.

    I might bake actually. I’ve been cultivating a sour starter and I’m not suuuper sure it’s doing the thing? It bubbles a lot but doesn’t rise. I can’t remember if it should rise or not. I promised sour dough for thanksgiving so I’ll try a loaf out this weekend and see how it does. If not I’ll probably do brioche since that relies on manufactured yeast and is more predictable. 🤷‍♀️

    I ran to PT 2x this week! I’d been doing 1x a week for a bit now but this week we’re upping mileage a little so I ran to PT twice. it feels good to be running in a set schedule again even though weekly mileage is projected to hit … 9 miles 😂. slowwww and steady is the name of the game. posterior tibial tendonitis was no joke and with my flat feet its always going to be a weak spot for me.

    I don’t know if its hormones shifting as I get older or if this is my body now post baby but its wild that I used to run in thermals any time the temperature dipped below 40f. not crazy thick ones but under armour’s cold gear usually. Now I sweat like a pig even down to 35 so I’ve been running in just long sleeves with my vest. the complaint is while I have lots of nice short sleeve shirts and lots of nice long sleeve thermals … I don’t actually have a ton of just regular long sleeve shirts. I keep telling myself not to waste money shelling out on them (because I am a lulu fan girl and loove their shirts) because its basically winter but then I for a run and … yep wish I’d had just a long sleeve shirt. but hey its still cheaper than cycling gear.

    I feel ready to run a 5k and … there just isn’t one around me that’s convenient 😤. my local fleet feet is putting on one like 45 minutes from me, boo. I was contemplating doing a jingle bell 5k in hoboken but that day just got snatched up by the family Christmas dinner so no 5k. I know I could just go RUN one but dang it I want a shirt. I want some crowds. its been so long.

    I started a runner centric strength program and even though it was mostly body weight … I’m so sore 😂. how is my upper back sore from 5 lb rows 😭. triceps too from the super high incline pushups I did. I’m such a noodle lol. hey that means I can only improve lol.

    I promised sour dough for thanksgiving and I am not suuuuperrrr sure my sour starter is sour starting correctly 😬. been feeding it going on 7 days now and its bubbling but not rising. I have a degree in exactly this sort of thing. hell I used to manage a bread bakery and have fed starters and made sour dough hundreds of times. and now here I am like “wait. what?” 😭. I may be making brioche instead… gonna try and bake a loaf this weekend and see how it behaves…
