TGIF!!

What’s on for the weekend, friends? Who’s running, racing, tapering, rehabbing, cycling, hiking, skiing, kayaking, swimming, staring in disbelief that the year is almost over, … ? Tell us all about it!

Running my second half. Nothing fancy just a charity thing but it’s a timed race so I can count it as an official PR 🤣

Aiming for sub 2:00 after my first half at the start of last month at 2:07:08 (I walked for bits). Also aiming to run it all without any walking.

Busy weekend with kids and other social events. So I might be at 0 miles for the weekend, which is kind of depressing. My last 0 mile weekend was in August (vacation in the Caribbean). Have to go back to January to get the next 0 mile weekend (ski vacation).

Looking at my training calendar, all my 0 weekends have been vacation related (with one being leg injury as well). So this’ll be my first non-vacation related 0 weekend.

I might have to figure out how to get some miles in.

Having a quiet “me” weekend. No real set plans other than Pilates & yoga, some running & going to go out to watch the giants vs Dallas game Sunday. All of the local eagles fans will be rooting for nyg, so I’ll be safe, lol (I think).

Been cooking all week, so have lots of tasty food. May get some wine to celebrate 48. We shall see.

Gave myself a “micro stress fracture” on my right tibia during half marathon training. Haven’t run in two weeks and probably won’t for at least another 3-4. Race is 4 weeks from Sunday. I want to use a half marathon to qualify for the NYC marathon but I’ll be lucky now if I can run at all. Sigh. There will be a lot of stationary biking in my future…

I took a rest week after my 10k race and just did yoga, so I’m really looking forward to doing a nice mid distance (for me) run in the park this weekend.

I’ve been thinking that I really need to simplify my life. I miss pandemic lockdown when life was less busy. This weekend is no different. Girlfriend has been working tons and tons of hours lately but I get to hang with her all weekend. Helping her kid w/homework tonight and we have a game night planned for Sunday. Kid continues to struggle and we are running out of ideas. Both of us are frustrated but we will see how tonight goes. I’m frustrated with the kid at this point because the kid seems to have given up on school and nothing will motivate her. We have tried every bribe to no avail.

I’m running in a local 10k and looking forward to it since it will be my last longer race of the fall season. I’ve got a couple 5k Turkey Trots lined up during Thanksgiving week and then I’m done with races through to the new year since I know my December schedule will be a madhouse.

Going to head out in a little while for my race dress rehearsal (i.e. eating breakfast/having coffee pre-run since I’m usually an early morning runner but the race is at 10am) - got 6 miles planned! The weather sucks, unfortunately, but it might on race day too so it’s always good to get some rainy runs in. 🥴 Tomorrow I have work (my workplace is closed today for Veteran’s Day but it’s open tomorrow on actual Veteran’s Day, figure that one out).

I’m running a local half on Sunday, which I’m pretty stoked about.

I’m enjoying the long weekend so far—had a happy hour last night with some friends from work, slept in to the decadent hour of 8 this morning, walked the dog, and I’m planning to get in a long run this afternoon once the rain stops. I also have an acorn squash to roast for lunch.

Volunteering at a race this weekend, I get to be the medal hander outer! Let’s just say I’m very excited. And Saturday night my parents are leaving my sister home alone overnight for the first time. We promised her dinner and a movie on the couch so she’s not all alone the whole time.

Working Sunday… but double time so it’s okay.

Not sure about running this weekend since the two above things. Definitely doing some quick kettlebell workouts that we have done the last few weeks. Eventually the soreness goes away… right?

We’ve been up every night twice a night now with our old dog. We’re getting closer to it being the end but lately it seems she just wants to get up, walk around and drink a bit of water then go back to bed the second time. Hopefully my partner will get some rest and feel a little more enthusiastic about existence after a long weekend nap. He suffers the most since he can’t get back to sleep once awoken. And he’s jokingly resentful of my ability to sleep anywhere immediately.

Going for another 18 mile run this weekend. If I’m feeling okay I may push it to 20. I’ve had a pretty good week so far with running and I’ve upped my caloric intake a bit so I’m hoping I have the energy to get a good distance run in.

Always feels tough to get going on Saturday mornings since I get up at 4am to get my run in before the wife goes to work. My first mile is always really slow and feels like I have trouble getting out of first gear lol.

My parents are going to be visiting from out of state and staying in a town about two hours away. I love my folks, but the thought of entertaining them in a Montana November is pushing me up against my limits and causing this fully grown man undue stress. Fortunately, I don’t have to work today, so I’m going to go run on it for a while. Wish me luck.

My dad always visits during the coldest grossest part of December and while Maryland isn’t as bad as Montana perhaps, I feel the same. Like, why don’t you visit when there’s stuff to do? I promise I actually live in a pretty state. Wishing you a smooth and low-stress visit!

      Hope the run helps!

I always think of fly fishing when I hear Montana, which prob isn’t a November activity.

Today begins my sanding efforts for my floor. Heading to Home Depot soon to pick up equipment! Ahh! Wish me luck.

That’s pretty much my plan for the whole weekend. On Saturday I might go with my partner to a movie in the park type thing (nightmare before Christmas!) but otherwise I’ll be sanding, sanding, sanding, then vacuuming, clear coating, putting quarter round back on… it will probably take me into next week tbh.
