I tried getting into running without a smart watch a few times in my life and “failed” out. I was going too fast and didn’t even realize it - had no idea what my pace was or that my heart rate was too high.
Didn’t actually get into running - and stay into it - until I had a smart watch. Maybe not useful for everyone, but very helpful for some!
Smart watches are overrated. You can train with a simple stop watch. You don’t need your pace, distance and HR.
Agree except I think GPS watches are alright purely for logging mileage
