Any controversial/unpopular opinion that you may have in regards to running

My hot take is that Adidas shoes > Nike

Ain’t never seen no cheetah stretchin’ before running 70 mph and catching antelopes and shit.

Couldn’t disagree more. When I didn’t warm up pre run, I’d struggle to hit paces/distances, took longer to be in the zone.

Dynamic stretching before a run warms your muscles up and acts as a ritual to get your mind into the state of running.

Hey, they asked for a hot take! I’m just following the brief.

I typically will walk for 10 mins and do warm up jogs before attempting any track or speed work but I’ve never found stretching helps me. The obligatory leg swings always felt useless to me.

I can appreciate that. I originally never found the benefits of it until I started upping my mileage and then noticed how sore I was becoming. Then injuries happened and made the decision to start warming up and cooling down properly.

Easy runs are just dynamic stretches, but any speed work will be a 10-20 minute easy pace, followed by dynamic stretching.

          Static stretches after every run.

Even when I have been at 50+MPH for marathon training it hasn’t been my thing. As long as I got a walk in and didn’t hit the track without a warm up jog, it worked for me.

I’ll take it a step further. Its mostly useless in general unless you don’t have the physical capabilities to lift your leg high enough during a stride.

If you have the mobility to sprint, you don’t need to stretch at all, ever.
