Any controversial/unpopular opinion that you may have in regards to running

My hot take is that Adidas shoes > Nike

I feel called out. I don’t have to do it, but I do it because (1) I don’t want to cheat (2) I’m afraid of not being able to start again if I stop for too long

The Murphy’s law of running is if you want / need a stoplight break it will 100% be green. When you’re in the groove and praying for a green light, it will 110% be red.

The only time I find myself jogging at a light is if I’m doing higher pace intervals.I’m usually feeling so amped up in that workout that it’s almost a placebo to effect to keep that energy up by bouncing around, doing high knees, etc.

You either beat the light, run parallel to traffic until you find an opening, or completely reroute. Stopping is not an option.

I always respect the red light ever since I ran out across stopped traffic at a light and a motorbike cutting up the side stopped about an inch from my leg. I felt like such a dick.

I’ve never done this once. Seems so extra, I’ll simply stand there like a regular person

A lot of military people have been trained to never stop until they’ve completed the run, so many people with that background approach running with that mindset.

I know this to be true however i can’t stop myself. I was a non-athletic and very out of shape person most of my life, so even though now I run 50+ miles every week I still carry that fear that if I stop jogging I’ll lose my momentum and have to stop for the day 😂

I jog in circles at about 2x lighter of a pace at a red light. It still feels like a nice break while my body doesn’t lose the feeling of my gears working. Stopping, on the other hand, loses my momentum and even just a few seconds of inactivity makes it a b***h to get back. Each runner to themselves, but I’d rather not torture myself that way.

I jog in place at red lights to keep my blood pressure from dropping too low after running a quicker pace so I don’t get lightheaded from the shift in venous return. It makes me look like an obnoxious overachiever, but it can be to keep me from passing out. lol
