How’s your week of running going? Got any Complaints? Anything to add as a Confession? How about any Uncomplaints?
Complaint: I’ve got a mild case of patella tendinopathy I need to deal with
Confession: I’ve known for weeks it was there but did nothing about it, hoping I could just run it off
Joasia Zakrzewski took a flight from Oz to UK to compete in a 50k ultra and used a car to finish the race, it was only after she accepted 3rd place she admitted to cheating during the Manchester to Liverpool 2023 GB ultra
Uncomplaint: Physio is happy with my leg, and I’m free to ignore my remaining aches (I’m very stiff) and get back to doing all my normal stuff and proper runs, with small caveats and more physio exercises.
Confession: The extra physio stuff sounds so easy, but feels so hard! My ass and hips are weaklings!
Complaint: My gym’s treadmills automatically stop after an hour as a default. I nearly fell and stepped weird when I wasn’t paying attention and it suddenly stopped on me. Such a minor but annoying chore to have to fully stop the workout and start again. (I’m not hogging it during a busy time - there were plenty of free treadmills!)
Complaint: I have COVID and haven’t been able to run.
Uncomplaint: Training is going pretty darn well 5 months postpartum and 3.5 months back to running…ran a 5k and was only 2 minutes off my PR.
Confession: I really need to do better about hydrating and STRETCHING. I am the worlds slackest.
Complaint: it was too cold (for me anyways) to run this morning, so pushed it back to this afternoon.
Confession: it was too cold (for me anyways) to run this morning, so pushed it back to this afternoon.
Complaint: My oldest daughter got engaged this week.
Uncomplaint: I am very excited for her and her fiancé. He is a great guy and treats her very well.
Confession: As much as I knew this day was coming, I am not in the slightest bit ready for her to leave the nest and go out on her own.
uncomplaint: finally hit my personal best this week! feels so rewarding. 🏃♂️💪
Complaint: I really hate strength work! I am 38 (almost 39) and ever since Jr High I have hated strength work. And yes, I’ve done it and seen the results! I had my best year in HS Track after getting hurt and spending all winter in the gym with the football players while rehabbing. Guess what, still hate it. I’ve been doing a very simple circuit workout to get some strength before my marathon. Lunges suck, and so do pushups. Please send help. Okay, that’s it, thanks for reading.
Have you considered heavy weights/low reps using progressive overload? I find this much more satisfying as it feels more intentional and you can see the progress.
Confession: Still running in shorts at -2 degree C.
Complaint: Covid vaccination side effects screwed up my body earlier this week.
Uncomplaint: Body fully recovered today.
can you translate -2 celsius to freedom degrees?
Complaint: For the 2nd year in a row after the Turkey Trot, I am once again going to greatly reduce running deal with my plantar Fascitis.
Confession: Last December I just took a month off and went to a podiatrist. When that didn’t work I started a speed block on a foot it hurt to walk on.
Uncomplaint: Been in PT and doing the work religously for a while, and it has really helped. It’s almost healed.
Confession: It probably would be healed if not for the above mentioned speed block and the marathon block right after.
Uncomplaint: PR’d the Mile, 5k, 15k, and Marathon this year (likely would have PR’d the 10k and Half too if I raced any)
complaint been up since 3. Normally never struggle to sleep but alas.
confession realized I got put in for an 8 hour shift today instead of 12, and said no when they asked if I wanted to stay the other 4.
uncomplaint can nap today after work.
uncomplaint going for a run this weekend with our ultra ultra crazy runner dude friend. I promised to drive and bring chocolate milk in exchange for slow paces and limited elevation.
Complaint: pretty sure I got a minor strain in my gastrocnemius when hiking on Sunday. So I’ve been taking a few days off of running. Definitely missing the effect runs have on reducing my anxiety.
Confession: It’s been kind of nice though to get a little rest and focus on strength training and climbing.
I feel like such a noob running 8 mins per km, but it is what I need to do to stay in zone 2 (what my garmin recommends). I hope this will increase over time, but I have been running for 2 years now and I still suck (speed wise, I’m doing fine in total KM’s)
I decided to start running with a Garmin coach to see if that helps, but when I see friends on strava running a 10k in 50 min with a average heart rate of 140 I die a little inside.
Complaints: ankle hurts so much from my speed work on Tuesday
Confession: almost did a PR in 10k during that run although I was not going for it. Marathon training starts to have some positive effect ! So I do not have regrets… help me figure out that sub 4 is doable, 3.45 dreamable
Complaint: Just when I thought I’m about to recover from this ITBS, I injured myself again… IN MY SLEEP! I got injured, while sleeping!?
Confession: I guess it has to do with me jumping into bed after getting drunk at a party during the weekend. I slept too deep and didn’t realize I’m in a position that is hurting my leg.
